Your situation first
It may be a text, a sentence, a decision, a hypothesis, a disagreement, a synthesis, a prompt, a presentation, an agreement, a strategic question, or several disciplines and professions that need to understand one another.
You bring us your material, what you are trying to clarify, and what this clarification needs to be used for.
We ask only the additional questions that are necessary, then make visible the distinctions, articulations, limits and still-undetermined elements that matter for your situation.
You do not need to know in advance what needs to be clarified. That is precisely our work.
Entry points by situation
Understand
Clarify a text, sentence, synthesis, agreement, instruction or prompt.
Compare
Compare several positions, frameworks, texts, models or options without treating them as equivalent.
Translate across fields
Make disciplines, professions, corpora, traditions or technical systems speak to one another without merging them.
Clarify before deciding
Lay out information, hypotheses, conditions, unknowns, criteria and constraints before a decision.
Present
Examine a presentation, communication, public page, lecture or report before release, then prepare a more precise formulation if needed.
Stress-test a hypothesis
Clarify what it claims, what supports it, its limits, relevant counterexamples and what remains to be tested.
Make implicit assumptions more explicit
Distinguish what is stated, assumed, interpreted, taken for granted or still unspecified.
Clarify a personal situation
Lay out what is said, assumed, interpreted or still undetermined when a situation, exchange or personal decision lacks clarity.
We lay out what is actually available so you can decide with greater clarity. The decision remains yours.
Clarifying the conditions of a decision ≠ making the decision. Stress-testing a hypothesis ≠ experimentally confirming it. Making the implicit visible ≠ claiming to know a hidden intention.
Clarifying a personal situation ≠ diagnosing a person, attributing a hidden intention or deciding for them.
What you can bring to us
What you have
A word, a sentence, an exchange, a text, a report, a decision in preparation, a disagreement, a meeting or transcript, institutional wording, an AI instruction or prompt, AI output, or vocabulary used by several professions or disciplines.
What you are trying to clarify
A confusion, a tension, an overly broad formulation, a hypothesis to examine, a decision to prepare, a difficult comparison or a situation that is still hard to formulate.
What it needs to be used for
Preparing a meeting, a decision, a presentation, interdisciplinary work, a publication, a communication or a more precise reformulation.
Who the result is for
For yourself, a team, an organization, an institution, researchers, several professions or people who need to work from the same material.
What you expect from us
You can also specify what you are not asking us to do: decide for you, produce legal, clinical, scientific or professional expertise, arbitrate a conflict, or publish the material.
You do not have to diagnose the problem yourself. If some information genuinely changes the quality or scope of the work, Aksoydan may ask targeted follow-up questions.
Missing context ≠ permission to complete.
Tailored clarification
The clarification is tailored to the material, the question, the context, the intended use and the recipient.
Tailored ≠ method-free.
The methodological framework remains stable; the level of depth and the form of the restitution adapt to the need.
How we work
Written work — the usual mode
The client sends the material, the request and the intended use. Aksoydan asks only the additional questions that are necessary. The work is then carried out and returned in writing.
Deeper exchanges
When the framing requires several exchanges, the work may become iterative.
On-site intervention
For some sensitive, complex or highly confidential situations, Serpil Aksoydan may intervene personally on site and work directly with the people or documents concerned.
Direct access ≠ automatic right to retain or reuse information.
What you receive
The restitution is adapted to the need. It may take the form of a condensed clarification, a more detailed clarification map, a concise summary, or a restitution prepared for a meeting, decision, presentation or interdisciplinary work.
Depending on your need, the restitution may also include a proposed reformulation better adapted to the context, the recipient and the intended use.
This reformulation is based on the distinctions made visible during the work. It is neither automatic nor mandatory, and it is not a silent replacement of the initial material.
This is not a rigid catalogue: the format depends on the material, the question and the intended use.
Clarifying ≠ reformulating. Reformulating ≠ embellishing. Adapted reformulation ≠ added certainty.
The aim is to preserve what needs to be said with greater precision, without concealing the material’s limits, unknowns or conditions.
Internal clarification map ≠ client deliverable. The depth of the internal work does not determine the length of the deliverable.
Before / after — public example
Before
Subject to stakeholder validation and regulatory compliance, the implementation of this strategy remains conditional on the evolution of the economic context.
After clarification
The sentence does not formulate a decision to implement. It indicates that implementation depends on several distinct conditions: validation by stakeholders, regulatory compliance and an evolution of the economic context.
These conditions are mentioned, but they are not declared satisfied. The sentence also does not specify which stakeholders must validate, which regulatory criteria are concerned, or what economic evolution would be sufficient.
The main clarification is therefore this: the formulation keeps the strategy in a conditional status. It does not yet allow us to conclude that the strategy should be implemented.
What we did not do
- assess the strategy;
- interpret regulation;
- predict the economy;
- decide implementation.
Why not simply use a general-purpose AI?
A general-purpose AI can be very useful for summarizing, reformulating, comparing or quickly exploring a question.
Our work begins when the quality of the answer also depends on what must not be conflated.
Aksoydan’s work aims in particular to keep the material, interpretations, hypotheses, established elements, limits, unknowns and articulations separate.
The goal is not only to obtain a plausible answer, but to be able to examine what allows us — or does not yet allow us — to conclude.
The difference lies in the methodological framework, authority boundaries, human supervision and traceability of the work.
We use AI as an instrument, not as an automatic source of methodological authority. The decision, arbitration and final restitution remain human.
Instrumentation developed at the Laboratory
Aksoydan’s work does not rely only on the use of general-purpose AI. The Laboratory develops its own internal methodological instrumentation, extending its research on the conditions under which understanding emerges and their translation into engineering.
This instrumentation helps keep the examined material, retained distinctions, their statuses, their articulations, their limits and still-undetermined elements separate.
It does not decide in place of the analyst. It supports human work of clarification, verification and restitution.
This instrumentation is currently an internal tool of the Laboratory. It is not offered as standalone software.
Do you want to understand our way of working?
The following section explains in more detail the methodological principles that support our clarification work.
Why clarify?
Some difficulties appear when several realities are compacted into the same words, the same sentences or the same frameworks.
A word may appear to be shared while carrying several meanings, functions or levels of evidence. A sentence may combine observation, interpretation, hypothesis, value, assumed causality, degree of certainty, implication or implicit permission to act.
We help distinguish what is observed, interpreted, assumed, established or still undetermined before a formulation becomes a decision, conflict, instruction or conclusion.
Distinguish the operations before evaluating the conclusion.
Two working moves
Unpacking overloaded words
A word such as risk, respect, responsibility, intelligence, consciousness, evidence, validation, understanding or freedom may group several phenomena, frameworks or levels of evidence. The work examines what it groups together, what it still makes visible and what it may begin to conceal.
The problem is not always that the word is wrong. It may simply have become too broad for the level of distinction reached.
UNPACKING A WORD ≠ AUTOMATICALLY DISCOVERING DISTINCT ENTITIES.

Unpacking the layers of a statement
A sentence may contain several operations: observation, interpretation, hypothesis, value, implication, assumed causality, attribution of an internal state, degree of certainty, level of evidence, permission, implicit authority, scale of analysis or a still-undetermined element.
We create the distinctions necessary to avoid distorting what is observed, not every distinction that could possibly be made.
What a sentence can contain
A seemingly simple sentence can name, classify, generalize, interpret, attribute a cause, assume an internal state, turn a hypothesis into a conclusion, present a possibility as certainty, conflate correlation and causality, present a value as fact or move from an observation toward permission to act.
It already organizes reality through its categories: what is named together, what is separated, what becomes comparable and what remains outside the frame.
The work consists in identifying the operations that are actually at work in the situation being examined. A relation represented in a formulation ≠ a relation established by evidence.
Central unpacking example
Sentence examined: “People who resist change are afraid of losing control.”
This sentence may contain a categorization, a generalization, an interpretation of behavior, an attribution of an internal state, a causal hypothesis and an implicit conclusion.
The work then asks: what have we observed, named, generalized, inferred or assumed as a cause? What is established? What remains to be verified?
Unpacking is not intended to prove the sentence false. It makes explicit the steps that would need to be supported for its conclusion to hold. Unknown ≠ false.
Effect of a formulation
A formulation does not only make a proposition about reality. It can also modify what becomes thinkable, plausible, permissible or justifiable in the rest of the reasoning.
What does this look like in practice?
Risk
A team uses the word “risk.” For some, it refers to a measurable probability; for others, to a potential consequence, a legal vulnerability or a human perception. An apparent agreement may then conceal several different objects.
AI instruction
“If the user seems vulnerable, the system should protect them.” Unpacking the sentence requires examining seems, vulnerable and protect: which signals, what status, what authority, which actions, and at what point a hypothesis becomes a justification for action.
Urgency across professions
Two professionals use “urgent.” The criteria may differ: medical urgency, legal deadline, operational risk, cost, possibility of repair or human consequence. Clarifying does not guarantee agreement; it locates where the disagreement actually lies.
Respect
“You do not respect me.” Respect may refer to a way of speaking, a boundary, an expectation, recognition, a decision or a value. The work does not decide what the word should mean; it makes the meanings present open to inspection.
These examples are not universal models. They show the type of clarification the work can make possible.
What the work can produce
The work can distinguish a real disagreement from a framework disagreement, identify a word that has become too broad, reveal a hypothesis presented as a fact, separate observation and interpretation, locate an assumed causality, detect a hidden unknown or show that a formulation claims more than its elements allow it to establish.
The result may take the form of a clarification map, a set of distinctions, more precise questions or a reformulation that makes the levels present explicit.
Clarifying does not mean simplifying at all costs.
Who this work may help
This work may help individuals, teams, organizations, institutions, researchers, professionals from several disciplines, designers or teams working with AI systems.
The function remains the same: increasing the precision of what can be distinguished, without assuming that the phenomena concerned are identical from one context to another.
AI work & support
A dedicated gateway connects methodological research with professional formats for assessing, stress-testing and examining the provenance, authority and revisability of AI systems.
What we do not do
We do not decide what a word should mean.
We do not decide who is right on behalf of the people or experts concerned.
We do not decide for you.
We do not diagnose a person.
We do not turn an interpretation into a fact.
We do not turn an analogy into evidence.
We do not replace scientific, legal, clinical, technical or professional expertise where it is needed.
We do not promise that clarification will produce agreement.
Successful clarification can also show that a disagreement is real.
A practice already at the heart of the Laboratory
Methodological unpacking of language is already woven into Aksoydan Laboratory’s research. It is used in interdisciplinary analyses, in work with AI systems and in the examination of formulations before concluding.
The Laboratory is less interested in searching for the right definition than in another question: what does this word or sentence contain here, what function does each element perform, and which distinctions become necessary in order to observe what is happening more faithfully?
We note. We observe. We translate.
Service confidentiality
Words, sentences, exchanges, documents and situations entrusted to Aksoydan Laboratory as part of a work engagement are confidential.
They are not published, distributed or publicly reused unless explicitly requested by the person or organization concerned, within a defined scope.
Confidentiality by default. Publication only upon explicit request.
Receiving information ≠ having the right to reuse it. Relevance to research ≠ permission to disclose it. Observing ≠ having the right to publish.
